The Art and Science Of Money Getting

The Art and Science Of Money Getting

By Marlon Sanders

A few weeks back, Frank Kern used a term in one of his
videos, "money getting system."

I thought the use of the term sizzled because it got to
the heart of the matter.

Why do people play the Internet marketing Game

To get money right?

So let's talk about the art and science of money getting.

First of all, the art of money getting.

If you've been following my Marlon's Marketing Minute
issues, you have your bills broken down into daily
amounts.

You've set out a month-by-month plan for the year.

You are now focusing on what you can SELL to generate
the dollars to liquidate your bills.

I want to add a new concept to your arsenal.

The concept of simplicity:

What is the SIMPLEST thing that will work to get you the
money you need?

1.  It has to be simple.

2.  It has to work.

Any idiot can create complexity.

But simplicity is beautiful.

Here was my ORIGINAL formula:

I sold Amazing Formula for $67.00.

I had one back end product for $500.

Traffic came from affiliates.

That was the system.

It worked incredibly well.  I taught that system in
"Gimme My Money Now."

Here's another simple system that my friends Kirt
Christensen, Perry Belcher and Ryan Deiss all use:

1.  Get traffic from Google Adwords

2.  Sell a product that eliminates the cost of
running the ads

3.  Make your dough from "forced continuity."

When people buy the product, they get a 30 day trial
of your newsletter, cd-of-the-month or membership
site.

If they don't cancel, after 30 days, they are billed
monthly.

The initial product sale erases the cost of the ads.
The recurring billing is the profit.

You break even upfront and grab a profit in 30 days.

If you add in one click upsells, you get a profit front
end.

That's the art of money getting.

My friend Jim Edwards had a good one.

1. Create a $1,000 or $2,000 product.

2. Create a power point presentation to sell it

3. Test it out and get your conversion up to 10%.

4. Contact list owners and offer 50% and tell them you
should close 10%.

My friend Kirt Christensen also does this (he's a sharp
cookie).

Here's one more for ya that is vintage Amazing Formula:

1.  Offer a freebie report to get people on your list

2.  Upsell immediately

3.  Send frequent content mixed in with pitches

See, simplicity.  The art of money getting.

Try the SIMPLEST thing that will work to get money first.
Don't START with complex systems.

Start with the simplest thing you feel will work.

Then, if it doesn't work, add to it or alter it.

I told a friend yesterday that this concept of SIMPLICITY
was what Ockham's Razor was about.  He was like, THAT is
what it's about?

People don't get it.

Ockham said the simplest solution is the best all things
being equal.

Now, let's move on to the art of money getting.

Law 101 of direct mail marketing is to test.

If you've been online any time at all you've heard about
AB split testing. You test version A against version B
to see which one works.

Genichi Taguchi wrote a book called Robust Engineering.  He
teaches his Taguchi mehtod of advanced testing that companies
like Ford, ITT, 3M, Monolta, NASA, Nissan, Xerox and many
others use.

The Taguchi method is a way to test hundreds or thousands
of combinations with the absolute minimum amount of information.

This means you can find out what works 100X FASTER.

Speed.

Taguchi testing = speed

Two popular software programs that do this are:

Splittestaccelerator.com

Jim Stone has an absolutely amazing forum.  And his software is
very robust.

...and

Kaizentrack.com

But THIS software does Taguchi testing even FASTER.  I think Jim
has is implementing something similar.

In any event, feast your eyes on this lean, mean testing machine!

http://www.TurboProfits.com/tracking/go.php?c=3_14_ezine

Here is why:

The software uses a pattern of time on page instead of SALES
to determine results.

The authors found a very high correlation for time on page vs.
sales.

But the program also tracks sales, because time on page isn't
100%.

Anyway, this is the state-of-the-tool for light speed testing.
And the GREAT thing is you can test with almost ANY volume of
traffic since you don't have to wait for SALES to determine
winners.

I can't tell you what a breakthrough I believe this is for
marketers.

So there you have it.

The ART of money getting is about doing the SIMPLEST thing that
will work to get you the money you need.

I imagine you have a pretty good idea right now of something
you could do to knock off a few of those bills.

Then the SCIENCE of money getting is about testing.

Finally, there is the REALITY of money getting.

The REALITY of money getting is that you must get things
done.

And the reason people don't get things done is very simple:

They are violating the art of money getting:  Simplicity

You do NOT have a time management problem.

You have too much on your plate.

You have too many things on your to do list.

Because you aren't doing the simplest things FIRST.

Clear out a bunch of that crap.  You probably need to get
rid of 75% of the junk on your to do list.  Get rid of
everything you don't understand and that is too complex
for you to get a handle on at this moment in time.

Pick the simplest thing that could work.

Put everything else on a list in order of priority
according to simplicy.

Now do the FIRST simple thing that could work.  It
must be workable.

Go through your prioritized list one thing at a time.

NOT 2 or 3 things at a time.

ONE thing at a time.

I'd rather do ONE and get 'er done than have 10 half done,
almost done or gonna be done.

So the REALITY of money getting is you must get things
done.

The REALITY of money getting is you got too many things on
your to do list.

The REALITY of money getting is you can't manage time because
you can't create it.  Frankly, time doesn't exist anyway.
It's just a way to measure something that doesn't exist.

So you can't manage time.

You can only manage your to do list.

And the reason you feel overwhelmed is you got too many
things on your list.

And the reason you got too many things is you violated the
art of money getting.

And if you know someone, maybe a friend or associate, who NEEDS
to read this, pass it along.

Post it on your blog.

Put it in your ebook.  Just include my little resource box.

Spread the word.

Simple works.

Do the simplest thing that will work.

Get a load off your plate.

And your mind.

Return to the art.

Return to the science.

Go forth.

Do.

Prosper.

How Joel Got 29,653,625 Clicks At .01 Each In 30 Days

How Joel Got 29,653,625 Clicks At .01 Each In 30 Days
By Marlon Sanders
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
In October of 08 my friend Joel got 29,653,625 clicks at a penny each.

That is a .47% ctr rate on 6,372,399,989 ad impressions on the Google content network.

Now, in his bonus with his latest product, he shows SCREEN CAP proof of those numbers. And he spends
40minutes telling the strategies that allowed him to do it.

While I won’t reveal all his secrets here, I want to tell you several useful points I took away from his video
and from my private phone conversation with him.

The REASON I want to talk about this is we see this everyday in Internet marketing. People with numbers
that make your jaw drop. And you wonder how they do it.

You often buy their product and find that the product gives generalities but never really dig down into the nitty
gritty.

So let’s talk a minute about how you DO scale up bigtime and what it takes.

1. First, master the fundamentals and basics.
Most people want to skip this. I know this as  a fact. Recently, I made an offer for you to participate in
small groups to really APPLY Ockham’s Razor. This was made to my buyers of the product.

Let’s see. We had a total of 2 people sign up.Now, I could tear apart my offer and say the sales letter wasn’t
the best, etc.

But bottom line is, learning something NEW is exciting. APPLYING what you learn isn’t. And if that’s YOU
and it probably is unless you were one of the 2 people who signed up for the small groups, then it means you
need to take a long, hard look at yourself.

Are you attracted by the new bright, shiny object on the block?

Or do you see an realize that it isn’t what you KNOW, it’s what you DO.

So you gotta learn and apply the fundamentals, even if it isn’t sexy. Even if it isn’t exciting.

You EARN the right to go to the next level.

I’m a fan of the basics as I am a fan of football in the U.S. The very first thing kids learn in 5th grade football
if they’re a receiver is to catch the ball with their HANDS, not their body. And to LOOK the ball in with their
eyes.

But you watch pro football on TV and you see receivers getting paid MILLIONS of dollars DROP the ball.
Why? Because they tried to catch it with their body and not their hands and it bounced off their chest. And
they where looking around at who was going to hit them and didn’t look the ball in.

The basics.

The fundamentals.
You first gotta pay the price to learn and APPLY the fundamentals. The DOING is 10X as important as the
KNOWING. Ironically, people are willing to spend $100 to learn something but NOT $60 to APPLY and
do it. “But I can apply it myself.” True. But you won’t. It’s proven that people succeed at a much
higher rate if they participate in groups. Napoleon Hill called it the MasterMind and attributed all wealth to it.

2. Watch what works
This sounds so simple. But I asked Joel what he does when Google changes the rules. How does he figure
out how to counter it. He said he looks at the ads that are STILL running and figures out how THEY are
doing it. So study what works. The other lesson here is that you have to ADAPT to changes. And at some
point, it won’t all be in a course or an ebook. You have to problem solve yourself.

3. Find something that works and then repeat it hundreds of times. This is what Joel does so well. He
did it with the core mini-site method in his course. He found something that brings in 3 bucks a day. Then he
repeated it SEVEN HUNDRED times. How many things do you have on your hard drive in ebooks or
courses you’ve bought that’ll bring in 3 bucks a day?

Probably at least a few. Now, what about doing that formula 700 times? This is one reason I’ve been talking
about outsourcing. You’ll need help. At first, do what you can yourself. Pay the price. Learn the ropes. But at
some point, you need to get help, so you can scale up. Now, notice the formula is to do ONE THING 700
times. NOT do 700 things ONE time! That’s what most people I talk to are doing. They’re trying to do 700
things one time poorly.

Flip that around. Get ONE FORMULA and do it 700X.

That’s what ORIS is. It’s my formula. Now, I didn’t do it 700X. But I’ve done it a good 30-50 times. And
portions of it hundreds of times.

4. Scale Up
All the big Adwords courses talk about target, target, target. And it’s REALLY true. You DO have to target.
But Joel will tell you it takes THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of ad groups to get
millions and millions and millions of clicks. I personally use a custom adword building campaign manager using
Speed PPC

That’s a lot of scaling up.  He had to have custom software written. You don’t have off-the-
shelf software that scales up like that. And if you do, Google will break it for you when enough people
use it. So Joel has his own software written. As a newbie, you don’t gotta do that.

But at a CERTAIN point of scaling up, you’ll want to spend $500 or $1,000 or whatever and get some stuff
custom written. This is why I say that people who are getting HUGE numbers really never reveal their secrets.
Why? Because you gotta scale up. And it’s not something the average Joe wants to hear about.

You want to hear how Brad with Stomper originally was bringing in millions. But you may not want to hear
how he had a huge warehouse to stockpile all the items he imported a very large cash flow cost.

See what I’m saying? I’m just saying you gotta be willing to hear the truth. And if you want to scale up, it ain’t
all gonna be pleasant or a walk in the park. Let’s have an honest discussion here: If you wanna scale up
to millions, at some point it ain’t all gonna be a walk in the park.

Back when he was still here, Corey and I had this discussion. He told me if he started over he’d do what I
do. He’d stay small and have a nice net and not go for the big numbers. But something compelled him to grow
larger. In Joel’s case, at one point, he employed 25 or more people in India working full time on his Adwords
stuff. Now he employes 3-6 full time. And spent a month in India training them.

On the flip side, when you bring in as much as $25,000 a day, you don’t mind the month in India. So you
wanna know how Joel got 29,653,625 clicks? It’s all in his 40 minute bonus video. But in a way, you’ll be
dissapointed to learn it unless you want a dose of reality.

Let’s see:
He scaled up on a massive scale. He outsourced. He created proprietary software. He adapted to changes in
Google. He has trade secrets he doesn’t reveal to anyone.

How did he learn the trade secrets? By doing it over and over and over and testing and seeing what worked.

But what you CAN learn a ton from is this:

Joel’s basic formula is this:

  • Get one thing that works. And do it 700X. Or 23 million times.
  • Focus on doing ONE thing 700 times instead of 700 things one time.
  • Get a formula. Find one that works.

Now focus on DOING it over and over.

It was always a "…Good Day" when Paul Harvey's radio broadcast was part of my morning drive to work

Paul Harvey died on Saturday at age 90. He was a remarkably original radio personality and someone that I had great respect and admiration. I grew listening to him as a kid on the way to school with my mom driving my sister and I. That was about the only radio station we could all agree to listen to on that short drive to elementary school. Paul Harvey was a traditional conservative and his message over time, helped shape my view of the world and how I wanted to live my life. He had the gift of making it seem as though he was talking only to you. "Hello, Americans!" he'd greet you merrily: patriotism never sounded so much fun.

Over the years, I kept up the tradition of listening to that morning message as I went on to college and afterwards. Driving to work and sitting in traffic, just 5 minutes of Harvey's rumbling-deep voice and strikingly unique phrasing made me smile. He was always just as good as ever and quick to remind us of what a great American we all can be. And just 2 words daily, gave me a subtle but consistent reminder to have a "…Good Day"

You may ask, why would I ever bring up this on an internet marketing site named "8weekstoprofit.com"? Well in some ways, Mr. Harvey had something to do with site although he didn't know it. He always shared a thought, opinion or idea with us everyday on the radio and it was usually about how we can better our life or else help others. Well that's what this site is about, I want to do the same with valuable marketing and web design ideas that will help you improve your life.

So please take a minute today and smile with me, as we all remember to have a "…Good Day"

Paul Harvey, sir... Thank You and Good Day to You!
